Area Test Piece Preview

This Thursday (23rd), the Band are proud to host an Open rehearsal for the upcoming Area Contest this Sunday at Blackpool. The event is being held at the Dobcross Band Club and will have a band representing each section.

The Bands performing will be:

4th Section – Dobcross Youth Conducted by John Parkes – English Folk Song Suite

3rd Section – Eccles Borough Band Conducted Mareika Gray – Olympus

2nd Section – Dobcross Siver Band Conducted by Kenny Pain - Cross Patonce

Championship - Milnrow Band Conducted by Mareika Gray – Devil and the Deep Blue Sea

We are delighted that Russel Gray and Colin Hardy will be on hand throughout the evening giving their thoughts and comments on the performances.

The Concert starts at 8pm, we hope to see you all there!

Its been a year of change at Dobcross Silver and for 2012 we have welcomed four more new players bringing the Band almost to full strength for the Contest season ahead!

Our recent recruits are:

A warm welcome to all the new faces who had a grand baptism recently at the Catenians ‘Beer and Brass’ event on a snowy Altrincham night! Once again a superb event and thankfully everyone arrived and returned safe and sound!

This followed another successful ‘Viennese’ concert at Shaw Playhouse 2 and now its down to the serious work of Test Piece practice for the 2nd Section Contests ahead!

We would like to remind you that we will be running the Test Piece, ‘Cross Patonce’, at two upcoming Open Rehearsals on the run up to Blackpool.

Sunday 19th February – Boarshurst Band Club, 7:30pm

Thursday 23rd February – Dobcross Band Club, 8:00pm

MD Kenny Pain continues to work tremendously hard with the new team which includes some very talented players and we are all looking forward to the year ahead!

There’s plenty of smiles around the Silver Band once again and its a great place to be!

Shaw Playhouse New Years Viennese Concert

This Friday, the band will be playing the first concert of the year at the Shaw Playhouse with ‘A Night of Viennese Music’.

There will be waltz’s throughout the evening along with soloists and features from around the band.
